Ultimate Bet Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
UltimateBet is one of the original online poker websites and has been operating since 2001, licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. In recent years, UltimateBet has seen dramatic changes in its design and structure. In 2008 UltimateBet merged with Absolute Poker forming the CEREUS network. The merge has increased UltimateBet's player traffic dramatically and has improved game-play for existing and new players. In 2009 UltimateBet rebranded itself as UB.com. The website also had a makeover, giving itself a sleek black and gold theme, with the tag line - Raise, Stack, Own.

Party Poker Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
Party Poker was launched in 2001 under the PartyGaming network.  Party Poker has remained one of the largest online poker rooms despite not being able to accept U.S players due to the UIGEA gaming act being enforced in 2006. Heavy online and television advertising has kept Party Poker's traffic high and has made it the largest online poker room not currently accepting U.S players.

Party Poker Cash Games & Tournaments

Party Poker offers a range of poker games but does lack a few that you would expect a poker room of this size to provide. Texas Hold'em, 7-Card-Stud and Omaha are all offered but games such as micro-limit Sit-n-Go's and Heads-up games are unfortunately not.

Party Poker is one of the best sites for tournament play. Their large player base makes it easy for any player to find a table at most stakes, even at off-peak times. Buy-ins start at $1 all the way up to a few hundred. Competition is very loose at the lower stake tournaments, however, as usual, play gets a lot tougher at tables where the buy-in is above $100.

Freeroll, guaranteed and qualifier tournaments are all popular at Party Poker. One of the...

Full Tilt Poker Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
Full Tilt Poker was launched in 2004 and has quickly become the second largest online poker room. Beaten to the top-spot only by Pokerstars.com. Full Tilt's success has largely been helped by the involvement of some of poker's top professionals such as Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Mike Matusow.

Full Tilt's colorful graphics, huge traffic and the welcoming of US poker players make it stand out from the crowd and continue to grow into one of the biggest poker rooms on the internet.

Full Tilt Poker Games

Full Tilt offer a wide selection of cash games and tournaments, as well as providing play money tables for practice and fun. All major types of poker are offered such as, Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Razz, Stud and their new game 'Rush Poker'.

Rush Poker is an extremely fast paced poker game, designed to minimize the wait between hands. This is possible by moving players between tables depending on which tables finish their hands at the same time. Each hand you play may be against different opponents at a different table.

Cake Poker Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
Cake Poker is one of the newer online poker rooms, launching in 2006 on their own unique Cake Network which includes online poker rooms such as Sportsbook Poker, Doyles Room and PlayersOnly.  Cake has seen a steady growth in the past years but has yet to gain enough players to compete with the likes of Pokerstars or Full Tilt. However, despite the lack of earth-shattering traffic, Cake Poker does still bring in a crowd due to their excellent customer support, generous promotions and their ability to welcome U.S players to the tables.

Cake Poker Cash Games & Tournaments

The usual game types such as Hold'em, Omaha and 7 Card Stud are all offered at Cake Poker. However, the vast majority of Cake's player traffic is directed at the Hold'em tables. During peak hours a player should not have trouble finding a table at most stakes at the Hold'em tables but may be waiting a while for a selection of Stud or Omaha tables to fill up.

Cake Poker attracts many new players by offering large tournaments every week, such as the $150,000 guaranteed tournament which is run every Sunday. Regular ...

Absolute Poker Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
Absolute Poker opened for business in 2003 but only recently has seen a large increase in players. Absolute Poker is one of only a few online poker rooms that have continued to accept U.S players since the introduction of the UIGEA gambling act in 2006. This, along with their recent merger with Ultimate Bet, creating the Cereus Network, has made Absolute Poker one of the biggest poker rooms online. Absolute Poker, as well as UB.com continues to welcome U.S players.

Absolute Poker Game Variety

The game selection at Absolute Poker is very good, offering Hold'em at Limit and No-Limit as well as Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, H.O.R.S.E and Razz. Stakes at the NL Hold'em tables range from $0.05/$0.10 up to $5/$10 which is where most of the traffic is at.

Absolute Poker's traffic has grown significantly since their merger with UltimateBet into the Cereus Network. At peak hours, over 15,000 players can be found online. Merging with UltimateBet has also had the benefit of boosting the traffic to the Omaha tables. Before the merge, players didn't have many options with table selection. However, after the merge, Omaha and even 7-card-stud and Razz players can usually find a table...
