Absolute Poker Room Review

Published March 11, 2010 - RSS/XML Feed RSS
Absolute Poker opened for business in 2003 but only recently has seen a large increase in players. Absolute Poker is one of only a few online poker rooms that have continued to accept U.S players since the introduction of the UIGEA gambling act in 2006. This, along with their recent merger with Ultimate Bet, creating the Cereus Network, has made Absolute Poker one of the biggest poker rooms online. Absolute Poker, as well as UB.com continues to welcome U.S players.

Absolute Poker Game Variety

The game selection at Absolute Poker is very good, offering Hold'em at Limit and No-Limit as well as Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, H.O.R.S.E and Razz. Stakes at the NL Hold'em tables range from $0.05/$0.10 up to $5/$10 which is where most of the traffic is at.

Absolute Poker's traffic has grown significantly since their merger with UltimateBet into the Cereus Network. At peak hours, over 15,000 players can be found online. Merging with UltimateBet has also had the benefit of boosting the traffic to the Omaha tables. Before the merge, players didn't have many options with table selection. However, after the merge, Omaha and even 7-card-stud and Razz players can usually find a table without a problem.

Players can always find relatively soft competition at the low-mid stake tables, however, competition is tougher at the higher stakes, although not as much so as at some other large poker rooms.

Absolute Poker Bonus & Promotions

Absolute Poker is currently offering new players a 100% bonus on their first deposit up to $500 when entering the Absolute

Another great promotion from Absolute Poker is the refer-a-friend scheme. This allows new players to enter the username of a member who has referred them to Absolute Poker. After 200 raked hands have been played the friend will receive $75 and the new player, an extra $50. This is a great way to earn a little extra money and boost your poker bankroll by inviting your friends to play poker with you.

Absolute Poker also has a very rewarding loyalty scheme, named 'FAME'. There are five levels of status - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond-Elite. Every time you play at either the real money tables or enter a tournament with a buy-in fee you will be awarded Status Points. The more Status Points you earn, the higher status level you achieve. The higher your status, the greater your rewards such as very generous reload and deposit bonuses.

Absolute Poker Software & Graphics

The Absolute Poker software is very stable and easy to use. The graphics are simple yet attractive and players rarely experience downtime. Players have the option of adding their own picture to use as an avatar and the software contains some useful features such as hand history, player note taking, game stats and automatic table resizing for multi-tabling

A very nice feature on the Absolute Poker software is the 'private tournament' feature. Players can invite up to 9 friends and colleagues to participate in private tournaments with a few clicks of a button. However, to organise a private tournament a player must hold a 'FAME' status of Gold, Platinum or Diamond Elite. Players are awarded a FAME status depending on how many loyalty points they have accumulated. Players must earn a minimum of 500, 2500, and 10,000 points to achieve a FAME status. Loyalty points are earned by playing at real-money tables and by entering tournaments which have a buy-in amount.
